Dr. Charles Plosser has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the
Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia since 2006.
January 2014, he will be a member of the Federal Reserve System's Federal Open
Market Committee, which is responsible for conducting our nation's monetary
policy, including making key decisions about interest rates.
for a systematic approach to monetary policy that would promote better economic
outcomes and financial stability, Dr. Plosser also has been a long-time
advocate of the Federal Reserve adopting an explicit inflation target, which
the FOMC adopted in January 2012. As we enter 2014 with a new Chair of
the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, Dr. Plosser's role in securing
the future of United States monetary policy will be prominent.
