La Salle University alumni, parents and friends who live and work in the Capital area frequently come together in meaningful ways to connect, engage, and show Explorer pride throughout the year at events organized by the University as well as by local alumni, offering a variety of programs that are typically aimed at community service, student recruitment and social networking.

The John J. McNally, '64, Service Award
The Washington, D.C. Alumni Club of La Salle University presents the John J. McNally, ’64, Service Award to a recipient or recipients whose activities reflect the University’s values, especially a life of emphasis on service to others. This award recognizes alumni who have made a continuing commitment to the well-being of the communities in which they live and serve, with an emphasis on individuals whose activities have been centered on the National Capital area. Mr. McNally played a central role in the development of La Salle’s Washington, D.C. Alumni Club. Past honorees include Major General (Ret.) William F. Burns, ’54 and former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns,’78 (2004), William M. Nolte, ’70 (2005), Capt. Edward F. “Ted” Bronson, USNR, ’54 (2011) and Thomas Curley, ’70 (2014).
